What is the use of concentration camp? /Dachau, Germany

This maintenance building was used as working room for prisoners during WWII. they did labor works, cooking ,washing and everything here. Now, it is renovated as museum nowadays and demonstrate the history of WWII, rising up of Nazi Party and prisoners life in concentration camp.

The museum is divided into 10 sessions. If you are interested into its history, it probably take 3-4 hours for visiting the museum.

The first few sections explained the reasons of rising up of Nazi Party. Germany was lost in WWI and have sole responsibility of the war. The government were not able to repay the compensation. Economic problem occurred like inflation and Hitler became their last hope. But Nazi Party was failed in election and rising up after a few years.

At the same time, some part of the buildings are being preserved.

- No prisoner could know if he would ever leave the concentration camp again -

The living condition of prisoners became worse, especially after the change of SS head of the camp.

Most of the prisoners are German at the first few year, but more and more oversea prisoners were transferred from other concentration camp to Dachau one after a few years.

They even had name card for each prisoner, which included his/her personal information written in pencil. They used pencil for records so they could erase and change the information anytime.

They have additional historical information available at the end of each session. Visitors who are interested in getting know about more the history could study the information here

One interesting fact about the concentration camp. No one knew the cruel part of the camp at the time because Nazi Party was good at public relation. Some foreign representative and press often visit the concentration camp, they would choose some workers who were "good at acting" whenever they came. The cruel part of concentration camp was being reviewed almost the end of the world war.
